I prepared FCE Use of English revision with my students’ upcoming mock exam in mind. I focused on such problematic areas as:
a) phrasal verbs
b) prepositions
c) adverbs
The Task
The handout features 3 exercises: open cloze, word formation and keyword transformation (FCE Use of English parts 2,3, and 4). As this is meant as a revision class, the best way to go about it is to let your students work on each parts of FCE Use of English individually and then check it together clarifying doubts and correcting mistakes.
Alternatively, you might set this revision for homework and correct it in class, discussing the most difficult exercises. I have found this approach very effective but, sadly, only with very disciplined groups of adult learners. With my teenage students, the best way was to let them do the exercises in class and then try peer correction before revealing correct answers.
